A Tale of Two Castles
review 1: I didn't recognize this one as a fairy tale retelling until the end, even knowing that that's Levine's thing. Very much enjoyed the tale, and it ends as though the story should continue. Glad to see the book is labeled "#1" here. Looking forward to the sequel. This is another strong heroine tale, with just a hint of romance. Also appreciate the introduction to gender issues with the "Masteress" and dragons who are male, female, both, or neither, and do not reveal their gender (if they have one!) unless they really want to. Recommended.
review 2: A well-told fairy tale. The coming of age story of 'Lodie is crafted around a mystery (or two) that the young girl and her Masteress must solve. I especially enjoyed the author's world-creation: dragons and ogres, kin
... moregs and princesses, mansioners and cats, in unique roles that somehow just work perfectly together. I think perhaps the ogre is my favorite character! Anyone know if there is perchance a sequel? less

Gail Carson Levine has written many great books--but this wasn't one of them.
