review 1: This book was written by Gary Paulsen and his son. It's about a boy and his father and their trip to rescue a border collie from a shelter. The duo bring along the boy's older friend and then manage to pick up a couple other unique individuals along the way. The boy becomes closer to his father but the group ends up developing a close bond. I enjoyed this book but it is geared for a bit older student (middle school).
review 2: I love that this is written by Gary Paulson and his son. I think that the author note in the beginning of the book makes you want to read it. The story has a couple of situations that happen that seem unrealistic, but hey it’s a story and it’s going to appeal to young readers that want a skinny book. There are very real family and... more friendship situations that are important for readers to relate and learn from. less
