review 1: More like 2 1/2 stars. As I keep saying, I tend not to like spy books. I love the genre, but books can't adequately represent it. Oddly enough, for me who usually prefers books, I find that the spy genre is better represented by film. This book kept me interested and kept me turning the pages, but the characters were not well developed, and the stakes (the Library of Gold) were a yawn for me. Too much coincidence, too low stakes. Oh well.
review 2: This is a fast, action-packed mystery adventure. I acquired an ARC of this book at a book sale and decided to read it recently. It is reminiscent of National Treasure crossed with the Bourne novels. Eva Blake is wrongly framed for her husband's death. Jonathan Ryder tries to reveal a secret he believes will uncover a
... more terroristic plot, but before he can reveal it, he is brutally murdered. The one clue he leaves has to do with the mythical Library of Gold. Eva is drawn into the mystery by a CIA agent trying to track down Ryder's killer. Ryder's son is also trying to resolve the situation. The book is full of intrigue and definitely worth a read. less
