Top 5 Wednesday: Genre Bending Books

This was quite a hard topic. I had to Google a few lists to get an understanding of it and some of the books on the list. Anyway, I think I might have it figured out!

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly blog meme started on Goodreads. You can check out the group here and the topics for the rest of the month.

I read The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender a few years ago. I remember instantly liking it. The writing was beautiful and poetic, the story lush and enchanting. I can’t get enough! I’ve kept an eye out for Leslye Walton and what else she will write. She does have another book coming out next year from Candlewick Press in 2018. You can check it out here.

Where do I even begin with The Raven Boys? This entire series is amazing, and it made me fall in love with the paranormal genre. I fit it into that genre, but I feel like it’s so much more. I will forever recommend this series!

Another fantastic series. I listened to it entirely via audiobook and it was phenomenal. It’s part contemporary, part mythology, part fantasy, and all amazing! Taylor writes so well that I look forward into diving into Strange the Dreamer (and crossing my fingers it isn’t overhyped)!

Apparently, I have a tendency to pick up some great graphic novels and Monstress is no exception. I read volume 1 and 2 back to back. Even thought the storyline can be a bit confusing, the art is absolutely stunning! The premise is crazy good, too, and there are a slew of amazing characters, human and not.

I didn’t care for Schwab’s Shades of Magic trilogy (I’m a black sheep, apparently), I couldn’t get enough of this Monsters of Verity duology. I want/need more!

I’d love to see your T5W for this topic! Leave your link below!
