review 1: There's one in every bunch--well, maybe not in every bunch--but there's often one child that just doesn't seem to fit with the others. Even when he/she tries to be just like his/her peers, it seems impossible to accomplish. Sometimes that's because he/she really is different. In this picture book by a debut author/illustrator, a little crocodile tries desperately to be just like his siblings. But try as he might, he simply doesn't like the water. A sneeze shows his real character, and there's good reason for him disliking water. After all, he's a fire-breathing dragon and not a crocodile. I loved the endpapers [Remind your students to check out the colors of the eggs in both baskets, the one in the front and the one in the back] and the last illustration showing him flying... more into the sky with his reptilian siblings perched on his back. This is a great title for sharing and one that would fit well with Emily Gravett's The Odd Egg and others of its ilk. The little would-be crocodile is simply too adorable to miss.
review 2: This book was in one word: Adorable! It is about a little crocodile, who unlike his brothers and sisters, doesn't like water, or swimming for that matter. He tries his best (and I really loved those parts) to get in the water, to start liking it, but in the end... well I will leave that little part out. Let's just say the ending was a lovely surprise. :)The illustrations were really gorgeous, simple, but very colourful and bright. The crocodile was really cute, I felt sorry for him though. All his brothers and sisters were having such great fun and he was always on the sidelines, trying his best, but failing. :( But no fear, the ending is heart-warming and very happy.I would recommend this book to everyone! less
