review 1: I really enjoyed this book, I love a good story set in my own country so that I can picture all the people and places that are mentioned. I felt the author really built on the characters and made them all real and the fact that you kind of had a feeling who the culprit was but he did dangle another suspect so you were not 100% sure till nearer the end was good and the fact that he tidied it up at the end but not too neatly made it more believeable.
review 2: Maybe a first book in a series. Very well written some problems with the slang from Irish to English. Plus a disconnect from not knowing the geography of local Ireland and how their police force operates. The author I understand is writing from a locals perspective and not a international one. I like the ma
... morein character Mulcahy and see a lot of potential for him in a series but the author seems to let him skip or miss the obvious in certain situations. When going to a suspects house any cop is going to snoop into vehicles and the garage and ask more questions of the gardener. I think I would rather have the killer identified by the author and get more of their perspective rather than have the obvious pretend not to be obvious. Also misses an opportunity with Siobhan the reporter and the photographer to fill in again when it is obvious. I feel this writer will be much tighter in his story lines in the future. less

Good thriller. Makes me wish I was still leading a mystery book club.
