review 1: I really enjoy the facts in these children's graphic novels. They make learning fun for my homeschooler. So far, I have only spotted one error in fact. On page 36, the tavernas fact scroll states "...you could eat dishes with polenta..." Actually, that would have been impossible. Polenta is made with cornmeal. Corn is a New World food that only made it to the Old World which includes Rome after 1492 and Columbus' fateful journey. (Other New World foods include but not limited to tomatoes, potatoes, chocolate, and chili peppers). Geronimo and his friends and family wouldn't have missed any of these New World foods since there was plenty of CHEESE to go around in Ancient Rome.
review 2: I haven't read any Geronimo Stilton books though they are very po... morepular in the elementary school now. Additionally I don't read graphic novels. This book was entertaining for the kids, very colorful and bright, with a touch of history. On many pages was an aside describing something of life in ancient Rome. I think the students will read the story for just the story, but the history adds a bit to the tale. less
