review 1: Such an exciting story! I would give it 4.5 stars If I could. There are some supernatural elements in this book, which makes it different from the usual stories by Gerri Hill, and the other thriller/lesbian romance novels out there. I'm not usually a fan of supernatural, but with Keepers of the Cave I was hooked from the very first chapter. The plot is original and the story more than a bit creepy. The first part of Riley and Johnston is pretty much the desire, the denial, and the temptation of two women who have always been attracted to each other, who have a bit of history, and who are thrown on a case for which they have to go under cover as a couple. It was so exciting to see how the line between play and reality began to blur, how hard both women tried to deny their a... morettraction and affection for the other, how HOT it was when they finally stopped pretending and gave in to their desire. Such a lovely romance! With beautifully flawed characters whose differences make them complete each other perfectly. CJ is a broody detective who had a very difficult childhood and hides behind a rough personality but who deep down is extremely insecure, gentle and sensitive. Paige is a beautiful woman who had an easy and wealthy childhood, and who manages to break down CJ's walls. She is smart and proper but has a very naughty and rough side to her. Once Paige and CJ decide to give in to the strong attraction that's been building up for years, they soon can't get enough of each other and they are surprised to realize it's a lot more than lust...I can't wait to read Weeping Walls.
review 2: I have read Keepers of the cave, because I'm a big fan of Hunter's Way! I was lucky, the genre is a bit the same. I love that Gerri Hill uses butch / femme characters. Even if this happens often, it works for the character of CJ and Paige. Just as it worked for Tori and Sam in the book Hunter's Way. Only downside was that the story is a bit strange at the end. Too weird! But the great characters make up for it with good chemistry and romance. Exciting, Hot, and fun! On to Part 2. less
