review 1: I really enjoyed this book -- much more than I should have considering that I spent most of it yelling at my kindle ... because their reasons for not getting together, for wasting all those years are just so stupid and could have been so easily fixed. Usually that sort of thing drives me crazy but this was just so well written, so believable that a person could be so wracked by insecurity, be so wrapped up in their own baggage, to misinterpret and project and get it all so wrong. Five or six years ago I think I would have been totally exasperated by this book, but now, I identify so strongly with what both of them are going through, longing for a lover from your past, that I am blown away by it. The strength of the writing is such that no matter how many times I yelled at ... morethem about their stupidity, it never once took me out of the story. I read this book in one sitting -- I found it so compelling I barely took any breaks at all. The description of their first time together was so raw, so real -- that immediacy, the wonder of touching someone for the first time, the aching feeling, the need to have them touch you anywhere, everywhere, that uniquely teenage feeling of accidentally finding yourself on the brink -- just wow. I really have no words. It took me right back to that first time for me, also incidentally in high school, also almost 20 years ago. The sheer amazement of touching a woman for the first time, of how invincible yet vulnerable it makes you feel -- Gerri Hill totally nailed it. I was a fan of her writing before this but now I am a total fangirl who will gladly read anything she puts out.
review 2: I like Gerri Hill. She tells a nice story and this one is no exception. It's a typical, formulaic romance but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I enjoy the authors voice and will continue to read her books. I did like this one.**7/2/14 - feel like listening to a Gerri Hill book while working today. She's one of my favorite authors for re-reads when I just need something comforting in the background. Like a favorite movie** less

Cute romance. Didn't take me long to read. Started and finished it the same evening. I enjoyed it.

Solid for the genre, although I did prefer the flashback scenes to the main story.

I enjoyed the flash backs and the main characters being older.
