review 1: This is supposed to be deep and meaningful right? Uhhhhhhh.... I know I know these guys are trailblazers and I couldn't read much of the stuff I do if they hadn't set the stage for it, but the illustration style simultaneously bores and frustrates me, and the lack of an active narrative (uh, some boys and a few girls, like, hang out in the neighborhood, being kids) was just boring, not nostalgic, to me. SO GROUCHY. I get why people would like this slice-of-young-life, but it seemed self-congratulatory and phoned-in to me. Oh man, I am a jerk.
