review 1: I absolutely loved this book, I was unable to even lay it down once. Sadly it wasn't my own copy of the book, it had been one I had borrowed from my local library. I loved Nyssa's determined personality. This is my second review I have written on this book as I chose to write a review on this book for a homework assignment and I even convinced my teacher to give it a read. The book is an extremely well structured book and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, from the suspense moments of almost getting caught to the moments of safety and happiness. I loved how Kit grew fond of Marius and they built a stable relationship. I recommend this book to anyone of any age.
review 2: This book was an unexpectedly good read.I picked it up at the library, because it was... more on display and the cover looked interesting. I'd never heard of it. Secret tattoos? Sounds good to me. I liked the world that the book was set in—an archipelago. So lots of islands and different cultures. Also, there are clan tattoos for different peoples. And Nyssa is a smart, plucky heroine. She does not need rescuing and often saves her would be rescuer. She can take care of herself. She's not overly romantic (or romantic at all, really.) And her friend Aria is another smart and strong girl. No whimpering damsels in distress here. My one gripe might have been the ending, and that it was a little too neatly tied up. And the villain could have been actively more villainous.There's some shifting perspectives, but not enough to complain about. 3.5 stars but I'll round it up to 4 since I enjoyed it. less
