review 1: I had a really hard time getting into this book hence the 2 star review. I started with high hopes of a good archeological mystery however it got lost with too much mystery overlapping the main characters ability to see the past and see ghosts. I like ghosts however it seemed too cryptic for me. If you like a book that is highly introspective and slower paced progression you will like this however I just couldn't stay with it for long periods of time, and each time I set it down it was even harder to get back into.
review 2: Ren has made a life as an archaeologist, interpreting and finding pottery is her specialty. She is well known for being able to assess a site, seeing what once was, not just what is left in the modern day. Ren has the ability to see the dea
... mored, they come to her when she is alone and looking over a site. She is able to watch them as they were in life and sometimes this gives her clues on where to dig. When Ren was young her brother died suddenly, but he has never left her. What Ren doesn't realize is the depth of the sadness that has followed her, consumed her since that day. Instead of blotting out the the bad in her past she has forgotten the good. When she felt others pull away, she didn't realize it was she that pulled away, unknowingly sabotaging her own personal life. Now she must face the truth and let go of the past in order to have a future.I loved the suspense of this book, the intrigue of the find and the brief a-ha moments. The author did a good job of giving you a peek at what you might think is happening and then convincingly turned that on its head, all the way up to the last few pages. Great book that may be of interest to those wanting mystery, paranormal, romance, archaeology or suspense. less
