review 1: I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I almost DNF'd this book many times. I kept reading because I agreed to review the book. Funny that one of my least favorite things about this book was the depiction of sororities. I was a sorority girl in college and this book gives sororities a bad name. But that wasn't the real problem with this book. The problem with this book was the writing! The dialogue felt forced and for a book written in 2014 I couldn't get over the way these people talked. But that is an issue I have with other books, too. The story had great potential but execution really lacked. This was told from two points of view - guy and girl. Of course the main characters both had issues. And then there is the love at first site. Seriously drives m... moree crazy when characters say The L word after knowing each other for 2 days. There just wasn't enough chemistry here for that to be believable. Also, not sure if this was a pre-publish copy or not but if not then the author should really fire her editors. I did however like Zach, the main guy character. But his back story was just too much. This whole story was just too much.
review 2: Alexis is just starting college and finds herself at the mercy of her kind, but insistent parents to rush the sorority her mother's choosing. She is a legacy at Delta Delta Psi, but Alexis doesn't want to be part of this house until she meets Zach. Good news? Instant chemistry. Bad News? Zach is one of the live-in house boys, who are completely off limits!Zach has been living at the sorority for a few years now. It helps to pay the bills, considering there is no help coming from his parents. He's a good guy, looking out for his "sisters". Zach is trying to atone for what happened when he was young, but will he cross the line with Alexis? This book was a fun, quick read. You can quickly, and easily get to know the characters. One aspect of the book I truly appreciated how strong the female lead was in this book. Strong, feminine and fun. I liked the male character, but would have preferred to have his personality a little more brought to the surface. There is no doubt he's a nice guy and a bit of a tortured soul, but I feel like we could have gotten to know him a bit better.Regardless, I give the book a solid 4 stars. A perfect book to read when you want a little escape. Worth the read! less
