review 1: This book started off well - I read the first 7 or 8 chapters in under half an hour because I was so hooked, but after that the whole thing just kind of tailed off for me. Without giving away any spoilers, the plot twists got increasingly unbelievable which resulted in far too many deus ex machina moments! Also the narrator seemed to be far too mature considering the character's age. Despite this, I did enjoy the book - just not as much as I thought I would.
review 2: The beginning is excellent; riveting and unputdownable. But after the events with the burglar, it lost it's hold on me. I found the ensuing events perplexing and non-sensical. What I most disliked is the way the protagonist and her mouse-mother become emboldened to face daily life through enacting
... more even greater violence than they endured. Their violent act becomes a revered step in the acquisition of new confidence and contentment, a blessing in disguise, lacking any remorse. For me, this is quite a discomfiting perspective. less

Dobré čtení, ale místy mi to přišlo trochu "přitažené za vlasy"...

Řekla bych trochu drsné pro čtenáře od 13-ti let.

Both confronting and interesting. I loved this book.
