review 1: I picked this up today and could not put it down. I can't remember the last time I read a book in one sitting, but it is an easy and quick read. It's a legal thriller/murder mystery, and the author sets it up so well. You might think it's an open and shut case, but nothing is ever what it seems especially when the lawyers are presenting the "facts". I love these "who done its" especially when the author keeps you guessing till the end.
review 2: Ooh a deliciously nasty read that was more that it appeared to be and very dark indeed...the story revolves around the seemingly open and shut case of a Rachel, a wife found murdered in her home with the only person in the house a mentally unstable son recently and rather conveniently released from a mental hospital and... more also prone to violent outbursts against his mother specifically.. So bring in the grieving husband Adam(or was he), the protective brother who everyone loves with his own secrets always there for his brother ( or was he) and the disgraced prosecutor looking for his way back on the upswing of life after bungling a costly serial murder case and this book really on the outside appears to be pretty cut and dry..Obviously the mentally retarded son did it, he has hurt her before and then this time the injury was fatal to his mother..should be over so why the rest of the story--Ah Ha this is where the twists and turns come in and you find that no one is who they appear to be and there is indeed darkness in some people but it always comes to light... I did enjoy this book, it read fast, introduced some truly psychotic characters and a twisted plot with some legal thrills that I did enjoy..I hate to give up too much of the book but it was worth the read, and recommended..:) less
