A Pink Spidercrab…in my Garden! And Rainbow Chrysanthemums

I was actually picking starflowers when I accidentally got a hold of this little lady (I’ll go with female since it’s pink). Cue girly shriek and dropping the shellshocked spider and her prey into the soil. But once I realized what I was looking at, I was super chuffed to finally spot a pink spidercrab in my garden. White and yellow I have seen a few of, but pink! Quite inconvenienced but thoroughly determined, she clung to her expired bee and dragged it to beneath the starflower bush where I suppose she continued to devour her meal in peace.

Of course, while I was trying to photograph the spider, Maverick was desperately trying to engage me in a game of chase-the-twig; very put out at not being the centre of attention. I indulged him for a bit and then moved on to snap the my very first rainbow chrysanthemums, lovingly grown from seeds that I bought at Hecker Nursery in Boksburg. There are so many flower seeds that I have tried planting, like dianthus and portulaca and pansies…and…and…and…that just never even germinated, so these blooms make me madly happy.
