review 1: I had thought this was more of a historical look at dresses, but they were all designed in the past century, and most were worn by celebrities. It was amusing to read about the designers and the methods they used in constructing something stunning for, say, the Oscar red carpet. But it didn't give me what I was looking for. I found that the library has 100 Dresses/ The Costume Institute, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which looks like it will be what I wanted in the first place.
review 2: This book was one of my sister's library books; I picked it up, thinking I'd glance through the pictures. An hour later, I had read every story that went with every photo. If you're a fashion-lover, this is a must read. Even as someone who just appreciates beautiful clothes, ... moreit was interesting. Included are J.Lo's plunge dress from the Grammys, Kate Middleton's wedding dress, Cher, Jackie Kennedy, etc.). Certainly an interesting way to spend an hour! less
