review 1: I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It may actually be the least frightening mystery I have ever read... but it was a very enjoyable read, with several passages that had me howling with laughter. The further I got into the story, the more anxious I was to find answers. More than one character has died. But - did they die by accident? Were they murdered? The author does a great job of mixing it up... presenting so many plausible scenarios, that your are genuinely wondering, right up to the end, who the bad guys are, and how they got away with it. By the time I was halfway through the book, I couldn't put it down. The characters are amusing and quirky and it was a treat to spend an afternoon with them.
review 2: This is the first of the Vicky Hill nove
... morels I've read, and it's a charmer through and through. Dennison's heroine is at once plucky, naive, sharp-witted and droll. The town of Gipping-on-Plym, host to her remarkable cast of quirky characters, is a vivid world unto itself that I enjoyed slipping right into each time I picked up the book. And Dennison's economy with words and action makes the story zip right along. An utterly refreshing experience. less

The story was OK, except that I figured it out from the get-go. Vicky seemed juvenile.
