review 1: The most disturbing book I have ever started...in fact so much so, that I didn't finish it. The translation means it is quite stark, and lacks the finesse of perhaps an american or english novel, and the subject is worrying and upsetting.I have found since becoming a parent I am more sensitive to explicit abuse and violence that impacts on a family but I do not understand why anyone would want to read about the systematic and continual abuse of a woman, mother and wife regardless of her actions in her teenage years.Avoid is my advice.
review 2: Wow, this book is absolutely incredible! The blurb really drew me in and I knew I had to buy it. It's really the first thriller style book I've ever read, but it really is one of the best books I've ever read.That ending... more was just... wow. As I got nearer to the end, my heart was racing and I just kept reading really fast, trying to get to the end to see what was going to happen! It's definitely a thriller and you really want to know what's going to happen.A fantastic, fantastic book. I'd recommend it to anyone. less
