review 1: Lovely descriptive language. Many books are erotic, but IMHO, in places, this was pure sensual. The characters, especially Vince, we're vividly drawn. The pacing was good, plot believable and compelling, and the sex scenes were spaced so as not to overwhelm the story. Love the struggle of two hurt men fighting to find life and love in spite of their obstacles. While there is a happy ending, it avoided being Pollyannerish, leaving them with their healing scars, struggles and hope. I've never been disappointed by a Harper book, and neither was this one.
review 2: synopsis:vince in involved in a simple drug bust gone wrong. he is severely injured and faces an uphill battle rehabbing and dealing with his everyday life. this is compounded by the fact that his partne... morer, and the guy he loves, runs away and leaves him at the mercy of the gang. rowan is a recovering addict who can't paint unless he's high. but when the two meet, they bring life to each other. the drug dealer that vince is chasing is actually a pipeline to one of the most notorious drug dealers. when rowan learns that vince is still going after them, he sacrifices himself and turns himself in to the drug lord.what i liked: in spite of their personal demons (or maybe because), vince and rowan were easy to relate to. they are just two people trying to make it in a mixed up world in the best way that they can. i liked the fact that rowan wasn't "cured" overnight. that he and vince realized that recovery is a life-long process, and that sometimes you will stumble. every day that you don't, though, is a good day. what i didn't like: not much. the characters were clearly drawn, and easy to become involved with. less
