review 1: If I could I would have given it 4.5 stars. It was a little slow at the beginning but than it got really good and I had a hard time putting the book down. Eliza Robinson is trying to find her aunt's murderer. She is at her Aunt's home and she keeps hearing a woman's voice telling her what to do. She ends up meeting Nathaniel who falls in love with Eliza and ants her to marry him but she has no feelings for him. She has feelings for Jonathan Porter but he is engaged to another. It seems like he also has feelings he is trying to fight since he is engaged. Thomas Beesley who also wanted to marry Eliza but she turned him down also. Thomas seems to have feelings for Jonathan's fiance Apryl. A really messy situation. Read the book today to find out how it all turns out. You will... more be amazed and what an awesome story it is.
review 2: This story has so much to offer - history, mystery, and of course a generous helping of sweet romance. It captures your attention from the beginning and keeps you engaged until the end. I thought the story was predictable, but then - twist! I really enjoyed this book. The characters are engaging and personable and the writing, as is always true of Moore's books, is marvelous. It is a sweet clean romance of hope, longing, loss and love. less

Reminiscent of the Victoria Holt novels I loved as a young adult. A nice easy summer read.
