review 1: Nephi's family has reached the promised land. Lehi dies. The rift between brothers finally causes the family to divide and go their separate ways.I realize the author has always taken creative liberties, but it seemed like she did more so in this final book. I guess I felt like there was less to go on. I found her idea of events, especially the over night turning of the skin color, well explained and a good read.
review 2: Like the others in the series, this book is well-researched and insightful. It moves at a good pace and the characters are interesting. It is also a little sad (since the true story it is based on is quite sad). There is a lot of speculation, but the author does a great job making you think about what it would have been like to divide a fam... moreily (this book covers the period of time after Lehi's family reaches the Promised Land - including Nephi being told to take those who will follow him and leave). In all, I'm glad I read the series. less
