review 1: The premise was interesting - and although much of the story was predictable, had it been executed well, it might have made for a very enjoyable bit of entertainment. Instead it was cheesy and schlocky - which all became too much by the mid-point. By then, it was full of so much repetition it was downright dull. I probably would have set it aside had I not invested so much into it; thus, I ended up skimming through much of the rest. The dialogue is very repetitive - over and over again - and all of the writing, narrative and dialogue both, is very choppy and lacks flow. I's almost as if parts had been edited out and the remaining work was never repaired to be seamless. Sadly, I used to enjoy the author back in the day when she wrote historical fiction - but this, not ... moreso much. This felt a lot like a Hallmark Channel movie. ugh. 3.5-4 star concept with 1 star execution - 1.5-2 stars overall
review 2: Was looking for a light, feel-good Christmas read, and this story worked for me. I found grammatical and spelling errors throughout, which always jump out at me, but I buzzed past them and tried to just enjoy the story. I did find Melody a bit annoying about halfway through, and some of the characters were thrown in without much depth, but I love time-travel/historical romances, and even with the errors, it fit the bill for what I needed at the moment. less

This is the perfect combination of a good love story, history and a hint of the supernatural. :)
