review 1: I love these kinds of stories that borrow from mythology and history and give them their own twist. The world building and setting the story must be done just right or it's not going to work at all. Belleau and Vane knew what they were doing.At times I found it a bit difficult to follow the story, so much of it was new and the world building was an on-going project until the end. I think this is more urban fantasy than paranormal - but it's on the list! - where the romance comes in second after the actual story. Both were handled really well here, though I do prefer a bit more passion with my romance. But Cormac and Sean's easy relationship in all it's drama-freeness was sweet, and occasionally hot.The problem with constant world building is that it can get a bit boring to... more read; I'm not a fan of endless narration of one thing or another, I prefer dialog and interaction between characters. This got a bit dull a few times but a few short power naps here and there and I was good to go again.Props for a novel concept, I really liked the whole druid thing.
review 2: The book is really hard for me to rate because on one hand it was so interesting and complex. The world building was so rich with detail and the authors have amazing imaginations, it was wonderful. However, it was also very hard for me to get into and stay invested into the story. The relationship between the MC's, Sean and Cormac was so hot and cold that it was really hard for me to see them together. There was great potential for their relationship, but IMO it fell short and something was lacking. The way the authors kept bringing up Michael was frustrating after awhile, yes sometimes closure is needed, but this was an obsession.As for the world building it was interesting and complex, and I was lost a lot in the story, and something did not make any kind of sense to me. This was definitely outside my box of books I usually read, and as I said other will like the complex interesting story, but for me it miss the mark. less
