review 1: Last year's Pantone color might have been emerald green, but for the kid-lit world, the color was clearly blue, and specifically Tiffany/robin's egg blue. My five-year-old son picked this book out of the library this week. We'll need to get our own copy now. This book recalled Herbert, the Lion to me, and that was a good thing. The text was not in rhyme, and that was a good thing. The story was sweet, but not overly precious, and that was a very good thing. And the artwork suited this wonderful little story absolutely perfectly.
review 2: This is such a sweet book! A lion comes into town to buy a hat, but scares all the adults. He runs away and hides in Iris' playhouse. Iris isn't scared and takes him inside to hide him properly, but lions are very big, an
... mored they sleep a lot. Eventually Iris' mother finds her with the lion and screams, so the lion runs away. He hides where he can see Iris when she comes to town. When the Town Hall is robbed, the lion becomes the hero when he catches the crooks. The illustrations are done in a wonderful retro flat matte style that goes perfectly with the tone of this book. A marvelous story! less

I liked this book. Iris (what a cute name for a girl) and the sleepy lion are lovable characters.

A cute story with a girl who isn't afraid of a lion even though everyone else is.
