review 1: I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I borrowed it from a friend of mine - whom I think actually won a copy of it from GoodReads. She didn't seem enthusiastic about it but since I'm an avid fan of fairytales in all shapes and sizes, I wanted to give it a try. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't a long read, as a lot of the other readers have already mentioned, but it's incredibly entertaining and you find yourself rooting for Princess Olive every step of the way. At least I did. I even got a little emotional during certain parts of the book and that's usually how I know a book has been well-written; if it can garner a physical and emotional reaction out of me. I loved it!
review 2: I received this book for free via Goodreads Fi... morerstReads.A quick, engaging read. Finished it in about two hours of devoted reading time. I would put this as a young, young-adult. The themes and storytelling are very pure and executed well. My only issue was how most of the men are portrayed in the books, as they are mostly all bad guys, then again, the same treatment is given to the women, so I guess it can be called a draw. I keep trying to describe the book and the words that keep coming to mind are "neat" and "clean." There wasn't any excessive scenery description or unrelated tangents; the writer takes you on this journey with purpose and I really quite enjoyed it. The powers Olive initially has are the ones I've wanted all my life so it was easy to get right into the story. I would eagerly read the sequel. less
