review 1: I didn't enjoy this book very much. I am interested in thrillers that have to deal with deaths and love affairs. However, I found it incredibly hard to follow. The author didn't do a great job of introducing the characters, so, from the beginning I was lost. It's a very upsetting tail about families that are brought together again after many years of someones death. Two main characters, Jed and Callie are siblings on a quest. Jed has taken a leave of absence from his law office to loll about with his postpartum afflicted sister, Callie, and her two kids at the old family summer home on Cape Cod. Their Mom was murdered seven years earlier, and their Dad died in a mysterious car accident soon after. So Jed and Callie are on a mission to figure out what exactly is goin... moreg on.
review 2: There is a mystery here but it is secondary to the rest of the story, which is about marriage, love, betrayal. Sounds like a cheesy movie of the week but it is anything but that: it deals with marital betrayal in a serious, thoughtful, beautifully written but heartbreaking way. And the mystery, about the wife of a man who is having an affair, who is found dead, stabbed to death, in her home, is interesting but, unlike most other novels with a murder in them, not as interesting as the rest of the story.
