review 1: This book would be good for older kids who still like being read to. They would better appreciate the family history that is the main focus of the book. "This is the street where I learned to walk, just like my mom." The illustrations are great, and I love the picture frame spreads on the left page that capture the moment being discussed. These pictures show up later in the story if you look closely-they are hanging on the walls of the house. The narrative is that of a proud child showing you everything about this house, and it's importance to her family.

A young... more Korean American girl reflects on how her grandparents moved into the house, raised a family, and enjoyed good times, including good meals. After their daughter [the girl's mother]leaves for college, she returns with her husband and then later gives birth to the narrator. I love the cyclical nature of the family's experiences as the little ones learn to walk and favorite foods are prepared, and family cats move in and out of the book's pages. After all, how can any place be a home without a cat or a dog? The last page shows the extended family, happy to be together. less
