review 1: This book kept my interest through to the end. When evil inhabits a child you expect things to get bad and progress quickly. This one moved through one death (or attempted death) after another. The characters were realistic in their flaws and real life issues. The attempt to 'help' Sam was the saving grace for some as an attempt to amend mistakes in their past. I look forward to reading more from Iain Wright.
review 2: The writing was clunkier than the previous IRW book I read and the characters were kind of flat, but I think the main problem that stops you overlooking those things in pursuit of the story is that it's hard to do anything new with a possession theme. If you've seen the Exorcist you don't need to read 95% of this book and if you've seen the Angel
... more episode "I've Got You Under My Skin" you don't need to read the rest. Definitely prefer IRW when he's in terrifying realism mode. less
