review 1: Ok, they say "don't judge a book by the cover," but this is definitely the case for this book. First of all, the book cover art doesn't represent either the description of the characters or the setting of the places in the book. The guy on the cover looks like a teenager, and the girl in the story was described to have a "bob" hairdo with black hair. Secondly, neither of the characters had spent anytime in Paris (note the Eiffel tower in the background). So don't get excited about reading a potential book about how the couple spends their time in Paris together. They don't! The story had some good dialogue near the end, but I was unimpressed over the consistency of the characters' personalities--or rather lack of it. The author alludes to the female character havi... moreng a traumatic past but doesn't go into any great detail as to what happened. We're left partially in the dark as to why she had to spend time with a psychiatrist and why her brother is so protective of her. I give the author some credit for having a slightly exciting finish, but why do so many of the characters have to have so much excitement that they end up in the hospital?
review 2: 3 1/2 stars. Olivier thinks it would be poetic justice to seduce Bella, the granddaughter of the woman he believes destroyed his father. He doesn't expect to find a sad, vulnerable and beautiful woman, who touches his heart in a most inconvenient way.This veers a bit into purple prose and melodrama, and there are some plotholes, but the highly charged mix of angst and steam was very entertaining. Plus, gotta love an HP heroine who's good at putting condoms on. less
