review 1: It takes a lot for me to laugh out loud at a book, but this one tipped me over the edge. Clara's witty, compassionate narrative kept me hooked throughout. Although the plot occasionally went off on slight tangents, it was consistently redeemed by its humour. For the most part, it is a fun and light story, but Knight also asks some really interesting and thought-provoking questions about beauty. I've already recommended this to a few of my female friends.
review 2: I'm actually really surprised at some of the reviews here, a lot of people seemed to find mutton a bit underwhelming but I loved it! It felt to me like what I would hope the latest Bridget Jones should be like; witty and a bit cringe inducing but entertaining nonetheless! I liked all of the characters
... more and I thought it progressed at a good pace; nothing major happened for a long time but it felt like that time was needed to get to know the characters properly. Loved it! less
