review 1: I couldn't even finish this book. I got to 50% and started reading other things. EW gave this book a 4 star review. I thought it was awful. Unreadable, no character development, sexist, really, really bad. I'm mad I paid 7.99 for it. Had I taken it out of the library or paid $1.99 on a kindle deal I would have stopped a long time ago. It is not a good book. Don't bother. I couldn't even keep the characters straight, that is how little I was paying attention to this book.
review 2: So happy I finished this book.I stuck with it to the bitter end. I thought I would like it but I just couldn't. I found the first chapter disturbing. You really cared about the circumstances and were sympathetic to the woman right away. I am guessing that was Melanie's la... morest moments. And,somehow that first chapter was the last sympathetic moment I had for Melanie. We didn't learn much more about Melanie or why we should care she was dead. And this is why I believe I didn't enjoy the book. I just didn't care about the characters enough. As well, I was frustrated by the lack of progress in the investigation. Fina would go talk to someone or go out to find something out but then nothing happened. But that would make her hungry and she would go eat or go back to Nanny's Enough already! Could have been better if some of these moments were edited making for a tighter mystery. less
