Daunted by the singular sexual tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful tormented young enterpreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a seattle publishing house. But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sexual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty shades. While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront her anger and envy of the women who came before her and make the most important decision of her life.

„I’m drawn, Icarus to the sun. I’ve been burned already, yet here I am again.“ – Anastasia

When I started to read Fifty Shades of Grey I doubted that I would like that book as it had been my first one from that genre. I had my issues which I, looking back, had mainly been that I was not used to reading this kind of story. I stopped this series and forgot about it, until I refound the books in december. I still don’t really know what to think of the first book, even after a reread but I picked up the second book anyway. And thank god I did.
Fifty shades darker started right where Fifty Shades of Grey ended. With Ana leaving Christian. Obviously none of them is happy with the situation and flirting starts again. And here’s the only thing I really disliked about the book. Ana is such a strong character but when she gets told to come back she does nearly immediately. The whole process went by way to fast for someone who never flinches to tell her opinion. Still I really liked the book, there were so many things happening that I sometimes had to stop reading and take a full breath before I could loose myself in the story again. And luckily there was way more story than in Fifty Shades of Grey. Something that improved a lot. It was not all about the ‚hot scenes‘ anymore.
The writing style is absolutely unique and amazing. There are Email dialogues mixed with normal ones. The inner goddes made me laugh out loud so many times, on the other hand I had scenes where I started crying (you probably know what scene I’m talking about when you’ve read the book).
The characters are interesting. There are no perfect characters. Everyone had a light and dark side, good and bad traits. They argued with each other, kept secrets or had the wrong friends. It’s something that creates a feeling of reality.
I really liked Fifty Shades Darker, though I think that Anastasia and Christian reunite a bit too fast. Still a pretty good read and I can’t wait to see what Fifty Shades Freed will be like.
