review 1: Unbenounced to me, there are 2 novella's in this book. The first one was ok, the second was a little better. It's one i am glad that i read, but at the same time one i will not need to read a second time. It was a bit slow moving for a novella. The first takes place in the Appalachian Mts in Kentucky. Where there is no indoor plumbing, no stoves, friges, nor washer/dryers. They are hard working people, but very slow at living and loving. The second takes place in Noel Missouri. The entire book is questioning the a girls life since she was left on the step of a store front on Christmas Eve. There is alot going on in this story, so it moves very fast. I liked it alot better than the first. Overall i gave it a 3 star.
review 2: Mistletoe links these two no... morevellas, the link found in the second, Once Upon a Christmas. Irene Brand has given delightful descriptions of the setting in Kentucky soon after World War II and her characters hide past secrets, divulging hints that keep you reading to see what those things will be. Anita Higman in Once Upon a Christmas has delightful dialogue between the friends and every character is filled with interesting quirks which are likeable even when they do a few unlikeable actions. An entertaining read. less
