review 1: One of my favorites! I think I've re-read this book four or five times. My favorite part about Ms. Frank's "Shadowdwellers Series" is the unique view she presents about different dimensions--mis-understood worlds/populations of people who hide because they are afraid of persecution. The world she creates is well-rounded, believable, and sexy. In addition, through this world, she challenges some of the real world problems without being preachy, or distracting from the fun fantasy ride she has crafted. If you haven't read Jacquelyn Frank yet, you are missing out. Sincerely,Sassy
review 2: This book wasn't my favorite. To me the Sagan's story seemed very rushed. We read about Sagan for the first 100 or so pages then he disappears form the scene till the end of the
... more book! I feel like Frank should have also incorporated him into the main story as well. Maybe then we could have build more of a bond with him.As for Malaya's and Guin's story, I felt like there was waaay to much feeling of inferiority. I remember reading this from another reviewer, and I said that that could make it easier for us to relate to the character as if they were real...well after finishing the story I'm quick to change my mind about that. It was almost painful to bare! Aside from that the story was entertaining. Sometime I did get upset with Malaya's temper tantrums but I actually find this to be a quality of the book. A good writer could make you have feelings towards a character as if they were real people. less
