review 1: Pete the Cat is a cool cat and his stories are always nice to read. There are two different authors for this series and you can tell as they are different. This author is good (but not as 'fun' at the other author) but he's still good. This story helps introduce Baseball to youngsters. It covers all the basics (or what I personally know of baseball anyhow) but without it being boring. AND when Pete the Cat strikes out it's still okay because 'I did my best' and I loved that about this book! Encouraging children you don't always have to win or do things perfect as long as you do your best.

... moret hit the ball or make a great catch. He is actually pretty bad. When he struck out, I smiled. When he dropped the ball I chuckled. When the book ended without anything wonderful happening I laughed out loud! It is perfect for little kids who are experiencing sports for the first time and are likely not having a lot of success. Pete never does anything awesome, but he is happy anyway! Pete Is my kind of athlete. I love Pete! less
