review 1: My three year old son loves Pete the Cat! And I love the optimism and simple but wise values Pete demonstrates in each book like practicing having a good attitude in disappointing situations, reframing a possibly negative circumstance into a positive one, the importance of trying new experiences, the importance of friendship, and my favorite, "sharing is cool." I can't tell you how many times I have used this phrase in our daily lives with my son: "remember in Pete the Cat when Pete says sharing is cool? So share that cookie with your brother." These books are straight-forward without being banal. The illustrations are rich and unique, and Pete's use of phrases like "groovy" and "it's all good" set a laid-back, playful tone that just leaves you feeling better than before y... moreou opened the book.
review 2: Pete is hungry so he raids the fridge. He proceeds to make what my son calls a "Scooby Sandwich" complete with wrappers. When he's all done he realizes he can't possibly eat it all by himself so he invites his friends over for a party! He declares that sharing is cool! These easy readers starring Pete the Cat might not be as charming as the original picture books, but they are entertaining in their own way. less
