review 1: This was my best book of the Ash series so far. It's full of intrigue, deceipt, supernatural happenings & complex human emotions, which can only make things more complicated. David Ash is sent to Scotland to a top secret facility, to try to unravel the whole mess & supernatural happenings that are taking place there. It's a journey of danger, thrills, scares, psychic energies & human nature. A must read for all fans of James Herbert or thrilling page turners.
review 2: This was a random kindle purchase for 20p. I'd heard of the author but not read any others in this series. I enjoyed the book. It started well, and the story intrigued, but deteriorated into a very overblown description of actions and I found myself skim reading the last 150 pages. It wasn't real
... morely frightening, just some graphic descriptions in places. So, the story follows David Ash to a remote castle to investigate a haunting. There are a few nice ideas about the castle's residents but I found the love story a bit weak and unbelievable. He was a bit of a wish washy character at times. I wouldn't go and read the others in the series but would consider something by this author in future. less

Was not as great as the first two but I think this was the last book that he wrote before he died.
