review 1: The art of secrets is a book I highly recommend. The vocabulary is good for 8th graders because how confusing the scenes and characters are, and how you actually have to take time reading the book. The flow of the words is pretty easy, except the book is kinda confusing with all of the characters and scenes. This book does have chapters, but every chapter is a character talking, and saying there inside on the burnt house. As said before, I highly recommend this book, but it may be confusing.
review 2: This book was very interesting to read. The book was unique in a way since it was told in many persecutions and it also included notes that the main character wrote. It was kind of confusing at first reading it, but then I caught on. Saba Khan is the main charact
... moreer of the book. In the beginning, it starts with her apartment being burned down. That part remains a mystery. Saba's high school hears the news and rallies support for her and her family. Before the apartment fire, her life was plain. Now she isn't invisible anymore. Her Facebook page expands and she has a popular yet secret boyfriend. The Khan's move into a temporary luxury with a view of Lake Michigan cost free. The school decides to have a school fund raising event for the Khan family. Kendra and Kevin Spoon are the ones who organized this event and found a book of art that is worth half a million dollars. One day when Saba was going to check on the book of art, it was gone. There was lots of panic and lost dreams for the Khan family. I believe that Kendra Spoon was just using Saba because she exploited Saba's tragedy for her "personal gain". I think that Kendra is a selfish person. If you read the book you can understand this. Towards the end of the book, the artwork was "senselessly destroyed only for spite. At the very end, Saba gets a note which is from Kendra not even apologizing for keeping the insurance money (that should have gone to the Khans that is my belief). It is weird how the ending of the letter said, "From the very beginning, nobody got hurt. We made sure of that." That got me thinking that maybe the Spoons did that just to get attention since they were newcomers to Chicago. less
