review 1: I'd describe this as a quite well-written, moderately attention-grabbing thriller with an abrupt ending. It didn't take me long to get into this book, and the plot was certainly interesting enough to keep me reading, but once you get to the last pages (and have most likely figured out long before what's going on), it sort of feels like the author hit a page limit and was like, oops, better get this over with. Some of the relationships felt rushed to me - especially the two biggest relationships in the book - and could have been explored more deeply. Maybe it's because I read too many loooooong books, but 260ish pages felt pretty short for a story with so many characters (many of whom are very complex). So, overall, this is a good choice if you're looking for something on t... morehe light side (light = easy to read, certainly not light = happy-go-lucky) to tide you over for a bit. If you're looking for more exploration of character, I'd go more towards the Dennis Lehane.
review 2: I really liked this book,it kept me reading. I thought the story line was original and it was well written. It was a free download for Kindle and was not disappointed by it. It is a story about a father and estranged daughter who find each other after a lifetime of mutal disappointment in each other. Megan's mother who died in childbirth at age of 20 in the jungles of Paraguay, is lef to be raised by her then 21 yearold father Pat. He is not equipped or mature enough to handle his wife's death let alone raise an infant daughter. He trots around the world going to various construction sites for his career, always leaving Megan behide in the care of his brother. When Megan graduates highschool, she leaves for Europe living off looks and wits, seducing rich men for what she can get. Pat and Megan see each other once a year at Christmas and Megan loves rubbing her lifestyle into her Father's face. Megan finally seduces the wrong man and finds herself in more trouble than even she ever bargained for. In her escape from this man with her unborn child leaves a trail of blood and death for her Father to follow. less
