review 1: This book was a total surprise to me because it had a much better backstory than I expected. I did specifically like the fact that Daniel had a dramatic past. I imagined it as a story about a boy who knew what coming, but this came as a total surprise to him. I loved this book because it is probably the best book I've ever read, although its graphics were not the best I loved it. I extremely recommend this book for people 8 and older. One main part in the book that I truly love is when he loses his parents forever. Its my favorite part because it is the main dramatic part of the story.
review 2: The biggest problem with this graphic novel is the art, which is wildly inconsistent in quality, to the point of being distracting. It's never great, and occasion
... moreally pretty bad. The second-biggest problem is that Patterson's characterization and story did not convert well to this rushed format. Several times during the climactic battles I had to go back and figure out what he really meant, because the version as shown made little or no sense.Daniel X is problematic, because his powers and abilities came across as whatever Patterson needed them to be at that point in the story. A case in point is one of his own mental creations apparently rescuing him while he was unconscious, through a pathway that Daniel didn't seem to know anything about. That made no sense, unless his creations are really separate entities with their own knowledge, which we're told isn't true. Also, Daniel's overall use of his powers to create imaginary friends and a fake version of his own family is kind of creepy. That said, fans of his Maximum Ride series might be interested in seeing more SF from Patterson. By comparison, though, they may find this volume disappointing. The later Daniel X graphic novels from Yen Press are better. less

The Daniel X novel is not as good as I thought because it just has a really boring ending.
