review 1: 2 stars might be generous...This is only my second James Patterson book, and I can assure you I won't be rushing out to find his stuff. It was okay, but just nothing special to it at all. A sweet idea and I liked parts of it, but Not enough fleshing out of the story and the characters could be annoying sometimes. Well actually a lot of the time.This book tells the story of Gaby (whose children call her that & it really annoyed me) who is getting married a second time after being widowed several years earlier. But she decides to keep the groom a secret from everyone including the groom! We learn a little about each of her grown children's lives and see them make decisions that will better them in the future. Sounds good? Well, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. If you decid... moree to read it, pick it up at the library!! Do not waste your money!!!
review 2: I read the synopsis on the inside flap and wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it, but I let the fact that it had a decent goodreads rating coupled with the fact that the author is well-known put it into my library bag.The characters - oh, I loved the characters. I could have happily read a novel length book focused on any one of them. But the central premise felt SO contrived from the start, and every time the narrative returned to it I couldn't put that feeling aside. less
