review 1: One of the most interesting books on motherhood and the complex feelings that a woman has to a new born baby. A suspenseful story written like it was covered with a blanket of snow....which is an important element of the story, cold snowy weather. I was memorized by this book. All the characters had so many serious issues, but everyone seemed to have their emotions locked in ice. Ice also being a very important aspect of the book.
review 2: I have never rated a book before finishing it, but this book deserves a mention straight off the bat. First, I'm only 50 pages into it. second, I have no idea where its headed but have a couple of scenarios already laid out in my head, third, it's a fantastic read. James Scott can write. He provides such wonderful imager
... morey and his choice of words seem handpicked especially for this thought or this sentence. I'm in awe and frightened too. I find myself thinking about the story while riding the subway. It comes to me as I'm sitting at my desk getting work done (or trying to) and I can't wait to pick it up so I can read more beautiful prose and find out what happened, what the hell happened at that farmhouse. Well, I know what happened, but WHY? James Scott you're now on my favorite writers list. less

I would say this is a story about revenge and secrets and how these impact the characters lives.
