review 1: ‘Jamie's 15-Minute’ prepared by Jamie Oliver is a new culinary book of renowned chef and author, but to resolve at the beginning - unless you have superb kitchen with all appliances and you are an advanced cook (whatever that means), you'll need a little more than 15 minutes to prepare meals in found in this cookbook.Jamie Oliver does not need a special introduction thanks to his series of cookbooks, restaurants, culinary shows, articles and delicious recipes. This cookbook is a follow-up to the culinary show with same name so you can see how Jamie does his recipes live. The main part of the book is divided into nine sections called by main ingredients: chicken, beef, pork, lamb, fish, pasta, soups and sandwiches, vegetables, and breakfast. The last few years Jamie Oliv... moreer started his collaboration with nutritionists becoming publicly active on the issue of healthy and conscious diet, and his involvement is followed in this book where next to each recipe is the number of calorie , and at the end of the book the overall nutritional value (fat, sugar, saturated fat) . The recipes are mostly designed for four people. Before the actual start of cooking author includes 'preparation' section with instructions for dishes and kitchen appliances, together with detailed list of kitchen equipment and a list of pantry that is located at the beginning of the book. Each of the recipes , except those in chapter 'breakfast' are complete meals with the main and side dish, sauce, salad or soup - just as in his previous book ‘Jamie's 30-Minute Meals’ - in other words, you have about two to three recipes in one meal.Cooks worldwide criticized Oliver for the ingredients that, except in the big cities of the world, are difficult to find and, if possible, they are quite expensive. However, if you move away from exotic names like 'Greek Chicken’ or ‘Couscous with herbs and sauce Tzatzaki' and look at the ingredients you will see that there is no single ingredient that you will not find in your local store. Of course, these recipes are not the rule, but where there are some 'exotic' ingredients, for those who are not beginners will be easy to improvise with substitutions because most often it is a one to two ingredients (such as various types of chili and pasta).Cookbooks that offer recipes for entire meals are always much more acclaimed for various combinations that you can do (if you want), and this one is no exception, though you will have a feeling that the list of ingredients for the meals you are about to prepare is an unusually long for 15 minutes meal. Also, if you are a beginner, you'll definitely have to study and visualize the recipes before you actually start working because sometimes some small steps are absent. Those who love breakfast will like his many simple, fast and nutritious recipes, since there is few ideas and recipes for this perhaps the most important meal of the day.In addition to the recipes there is a picture of prepared meals and from personal experience I can say that the image rightfully looks delicious.
review 2: I had been waiting for this book from the local public library for quite some time. It was a quick book to read even though some 270+ pages, but with colourful pictures and a great variety of recipes chicken, meat, fish and vegetable recipes; I am not surprised that there were only a few dessert recipes. The use of quick cook cuts and supermarket ready dry ingredients; pre-cooking prep work all done beforehand for the cooking and assembling of the meal ready in 15 minutes. Depends on what you are cooking but it can be done; although yet I have to experience it! I think I am more of a relaxed cook, but I do sometimes get going! Anyway, I did come away with a few titbits!I am eager to try Jamie's Coconut Buns (from page 24) done in a Chinese steamer! Served with pan-fried spicy marinated boneless thigh chicken meat; steamed broccollini and a garnish of pickled pink ginger! Sounds yum, my mouth is watering already! The TV series of this book is still TV playing in our area, so I was able to recognised and watch my next recipe pick - Beef Kofta Curry with Fluffy Rice, Green Beans & Peas... nice!No need for the recipe, but just the thought of a put-together Fish Bap served with mushy peas and tartare sauce, seems great for a 'thank God it's Friday' lazy night supper in front of the telly! And then great ideas for Sunday breakfast or brunch, serving up eggs (poached - preferred), avocado, mushrooms and tastefully seasoned..... yep, roll on the weekend! less
