review 1: I absolutely loved this book! A heroine that kicks some major ass and a hero who is super sexy and a Brit to boot! Gotta love those boys with the accents!Call Sign Karma is a fresh relief from the typical romance novel out right now. Tinklee (yep that's her name) is fierce yet damaged. She is out to prove that her fighter pilot brother's accident was not his fault, but rather the fault of the jet. The only problem is that one of her biggest obstacles is her father, the lobbiest raising money for the newest jet program. Tink ends up following in her brother's footsteps by being accepted into the training program for the newest jet. Not only is she out to prove her father and the panel wrong about her brother, she will have an uphill battle being the only woman on the team ... moretoo.Nervous enough about stepping into the shoes she needs to fill. She gets the shock of her life when her one-night stand from the night before, ends up being instructor!Never a dull moment in this book and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute!4.5 stars
review 2: 4.5 starsThis was a great debut novel by Jamie Rae. I must admit that I haven't read a lot of military-type books before. Do I read about hot military guys? Oh yeah. This book was different; it was so much more. It has the heroine who is a complete bad ass but not to the point that you can't relate to her. It has plenty of good looking guys in uniform to drool over, but they are so much more than eye candy. The action sequences written in this book depict some "boots on the ground" battles our Special Forces deal with along with some white knuckle, hold on to your seat, fighter jet scenes. These particular scenes I felt were written so well that you didn't have to be military minded to follow and understand. I could actually visualize everything that was happening.Jamie Rae made me feel the angst of forbidden love, the worry of a loved one's deployment, and the sorrow of losing a loved one. She made me feel the guilt of not having hind sight. Don't we all wish we had that? Most importantly though, she made me feel hopeful and proud. Hopeful that we can all learn from our mistakes and forgive ourselves so that we can learn to move on and open our hearts to love. And really what can be said about our armed forces? They are a special kind of people; ready and willing to sacrifice themselves for others. I certainly couldn't be more proud of my two sons and their choice to join the Air Force. We all know the saying "no man left behind". Don't be left behind and one click this book. *I received Call Sign Karma as an ARC for an honest review. less
