review 1: We picked this book for my book club. I have officially given up on it after reading about 130 pages (which is about half the book). I don't think that it's a bad book, but I just could not get into it. I would find that I'd read a couple paragraphs or pages and then have no idea what I just read and have to go back and read it again. Names would come up, and I would think "have I seen that name before?" and then have to page back through to try to remind myself of what I'd already read. There is not much character development or plot development, and I found that I couldn't grasp onto anything to hold my interest. Finally, I realized that I was just plugging through and reading words and that there were many other books I'd rather read, so I set this one ... moredown.
review 2: "These men died a final and total death. They will live in no songs; no memorials will be raised to them. It is possible that with time, even their loved ones will lock them up in some closed recess of their minds. The terrible struggle for life makes it impossible for too much time to be wasted over thoughts for the dead. What died with them was a part of the Baluch people themselves. A little of their spontaneity in offering affection, and something of their graciousness and trust. That, too, was tried and sentenced, and died with these seven men." less

Good book for those who enjoy reading about the world they know so little about.

This book is something like a landscape painting; signed by The Falcon.
