review 1: Cute little short story. Not much in the way of characterization, and after reading the entire Demon Trapper's series before this, it wasn't nearly as entertaining. With Riley's luck I was expecting a lot more trouble in this story, but it was nice for her to get a bit of a break too, even if it was before the events of the main story where she really needed the break. The writing itself was still very good however, I like the style Oliver goes with for this series. Even though I only gave this three stars I'd still say it's worth it to read. It's free on amazon and very short, easily readable in one sitting (or a few minutes even, depending on how fast you read). It's also a nice little add-on to the series, though if you read this before the series itself you should know... more that it the series itself is much better, in case you didn't find this entertaining and decide not to read the rest of Riley's story.
review 2: Riley Blackthorne is out to take on her newest Demon all on her own after being trained by the great Demon Trapper and her father Paul Blackthorne. She ends up at a house with a 60's hippy couple who have a demon destroying their vintage stuff, it's up to Riley to secure the sneaky demon before he makes things worse. She uses the thing the Demon bores them more than anything Moby Dick, which seems to do the trick of putting the Demon to sleep or so she thinks. This was great full of humor and adventure. Hoping that the young apprentice will succeed. less
