Tales from Butternut Creek
review 1: I liked this book. It reminds me of Jan Karon and the Mitford Series with a Pastor of a church and meeting the people in his town and some who come to the church. Very interesting characters. Very interesting solutions to filling up the empty parsonage, since the new pastor is single. A little romance included as well. Looking forward to the next book in the series, THE MATCHMAKERS, which I think will include the new Pastor at the Butternut Creek church. The widows in the church form a formidable group. If the Pastor can get them on his side, his ideas will go a lot better. Highly recommend this book. Thanks for the opportunity to read it. I passed it on to a friend and then it will go into our church library.
review 2: I did not like this book nearly
... more as much as I had hoped I would. I read it thinking it would be more similar to the "Home to Harmony" series of books which also portray a minister returning to a small town. Those books are full of quirky and lovable characters. I was hoping for the same magic with this book but it simply was not there. The characters were not all that quirky or funny and things moved way too fast in many ways. The reader was not introduced to enough characters to really get to know the town. I don't even feel like I was able to get to know the main character, Adam. I probably will not be reading anymore in this series. less
