review 1: Light and silly story of the first day of school at Wolverine's The Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. I found it to be funny. I actually laughed out loud reading the classes list in the back of this trade. This was my first introduction to many of the new students and I'm interested in following their stories. I checked it out from the library so I didn't have any complaints about it being to short for the price.
review 2: I enjoyed the plot and the writing, but the art in the first bit is a little too reminiscent of manga for my taste. Bachalo's backgrounds and action sequences are beautifully done, and the mutants and aliens who aren't supposed to look like typical human beings are very artfully done. The more average looking X-Men, however, seem to have
... morebeen an afterthought and don't feature anything even remotely close to the level of detail in the non-human and alien characters. less

I really, really, like the turn X-men is going. A great story, and I loved the humor.
