Amazing X-Men
review 1: Public library copy.I like the writer and artist, but their collaboration wasn't as good as it should have been. Sadly, a lot of Ed McG's Marvel work hasn't been anything to rave about story-wise. I think he's been poorly served by the writers. The effort by Aaron, I can give a pass, as he writes a lot of titles for Marvel as an exclusive writer. This work suffers from maybe stretched too thin or deadlines.
review 2: X-books have been unsatisfying downers for me recently, so cracking open Jason Aaron's an Ed McGuinness' Amazing was a much needed breath of fresh air. Amazing is written as a witty, inventive, and incredibly fun book that's tough not to love. The secret of Aaron's bamfs is revealed, bringing Nightcrawler back to life with it. Never before has a
... moreretconned X-Men death been so much fun to read. McGuinness' art is as expressive as ever and poppy fun, while Aaron continues the stride established in his Wolverine and the X-Men book by keeping things light and endlessly clever. Amazing manages to not only be an excellent X-book, but also succeeds as a love letter to Nightcrawler, complete with a visit to Harry's Hideaway. It's an easy recommend to any bored to death X-fan. less
